We can't wait for 'X-Men: Apocalypse'. After the recent return to form for the movie franchise after 2014's 'Days of Future Past' this sequel looks set to raise the game even higher, throw in the most powerful mutant of all time as the main villain for good measure and you've got something that has us very excited indeed. Now time for an update on the project and it looks as though we won't have to wait much longer for an extended look at the new movie. Director Bryan Singer (X2, The Usual Suspects) has shared a shot of him working in the editing room cutting together the first theatrical trailer for the movie! Singer is joined by editor/composer and frequent collaborator, John Ottoman and there's a shot of James Mcavoy as Professor Xavier on the monitor plus a what looks to be a trailer storyboard pinned to the back wall. Check out the picture below and start squinting.
Here's a tease for you, according to a report by Le Journal de Montréal the film is expected to head for some reshoots in Montreal for a few weeks during January next year, while that's not uncommon for a film this size, what is interesting though is that Hugh Jackman is rumoured to present for filming! So will Wolverine be making an appearance in 'Apocalypse' the character has not been mentioned in any of the cast listings so far and if he had a main role you'd bet the studio wouldn't hide it. So what could it be? Our guess is that maybe it's just a brief cameo to drum up excitement for Jackman's "Final" Wolverine film which is set for release March 2017 but hey we'd love to be wrong and see Logan feature more prominently in the picture and go toe to toe with Apocalypse!
"Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.”
Finally here's something cool for you. Singer shares a lot of awesome stuff on his Instagram and here's a shot that is awesome for many Marvel and more general movie related reasons, we'll leave you to connect all the dots!
'X-Men: Apocalypse' is set to conclude the recent trilogy of X-Men films starting with 'First Class' and 'Days of Future Past' and is set for release May 27th 2016.
