'Thor: Ragnarok' - Hulk is in! Mark Ruffalo Teases What to Expect

"Buddy Cop" Movie with Potential Fisticuffs..

It's been rumoured that the Incredible Hulk would be joining in on the next Asgardian adventure in 'Thor: Ragnarok' and after Mark Ruffalo signed a deal to star in the movie we're now past the initial excitement phase and into full-on speculation mode! Thankfully Mark Ruffalo has commented on what to expect in the movie and also what kind of relationship will play out on film between the two Avengers. Check out his comments below.

“I don’t really know that much about it, but I think it’s going to be a buddy picture with Thor and Bruce Banner,” Ruffalo said. “I think they’ll probably fight. There’s no doubt, everyone wants us to fight at one point.”

“...it’ll be (Loki) and Thor, and then I’ll be in there here and there. But I don’t know any of the particulars quite yet. I’ve talked to Taika (Waititi, the director) a little bit and I like where it’s headed. … Chris (Hemsworth) and I have a really good time together, we goof off and play around when Tom Hiddleston is around. So it’ll be a lot of funny back-and-forth, especially with Taika, he does that really well. It’ll have that kind of antagonistic Odd Couple-thing going on.”

We've already seen Thor and Hulk exchange blows in the first Avengers movie but it will be great to see the two mightiest Marvel heroes go toe-to-toe once more. After the events of Iron Man's Hulkbuster showdown with Banner in 'Age of Ultron' it will be interesting to see what makes our hero go green again. The plot is rumoured to introduce a new world to the MCU and although rumours of a 'Planet Hulk' type movie persist it's likely to lean more towards Thor's comicbook history. We last saw Bruce Banner on a seemingly self-imposed exile after the Avenger's final confrontation with Ultron and with things set to get more cosmic with Marvel's two-part epic 'Infinity War' looming it wouldn't be out of the realms of possibility for the Hulk to head out of Earth's stratosphere to prevent himself from inflicting more destruciton. This seems to be the only way Marvel can continue a Hulk's storyline due to ongoing rights issues and a solo film isn't on the horizon anytime soon unless a deal is struck between marvel and Universal. Ruffalo himself addressed this in a USA Today interview and went into detail on why there's still merit in a Hulk solo movie.

“Actually, it feels even further away, it’s not Marvel’s property, it’s Universal’s property. I don’t know. It seems really problematic. I’d love to do it, it’d be really fun. There’s a lot still to do with the character. I always try to think about different places we could go with him…When you get off of the planet Earth, you can start playing with that stuff a little bit. I’m angling for it. I don’t know if it’ll happen now, but at some point, I’d like to see it happen. When I was doing Age of Ultron — doing the Scarlet Witch acid trip scenes — it really took me a long time to figure out what the Hulk would be afraid of. And then I realized, it was Banner. That relationship is what we’re all so into, but we’ve never seen them in the same scene together — you’re either one or the other, or somewhere in between. But I always imagined that that could be pretty exciting if we could pull it off.”

'Thor: Ragnarok' will complete Marvel's Asgardian trilogy and will also feature the return of Tom Hiddlestone as Loki who we last saw fake his own death to rule over Asgard in disguise as Anthony Hopkin's Odin. Chris Hemsworth of course returns as Thor and will take up his mighty hammer once more when the film releases July 28th 2017.
