'Aquaman' - WB Adds New Writer to the Solo Movie

Jason Momoa Stars, James Wan to Direct

By Alex Burns

An article over at The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Warner Bros. Pictures has signed on screenwriter David Leslie Johnson to work on director James Wan's upcoming 'Aquaman' solo movie. Johnson is already working with Wan on the imminent 'The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist' movie and it looks to be a partnership both parties are keen to repeat! Johnson has a pretty solid background having worked on big budget projects like 'Wrath of the Titans', as well as horror films such as 'Orphan' and 'Red Riding Hood'.

DC and Warner Bros. are keen to prove Aquaman can become a big box office draw they are giving the character the big solo movie treatment and hopefully he'll be able to stand shoulder to shoulder with Batman and Superman after this movie. The character is a founding member of the Justice League and his inclusion in this new DC cinematic universe will bring the race of Atlanteans front and centre.

Momoa’s Aquaman is set to feature first in Zack Snyder’s 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice', which is set for release March 25, 2016. Although unconfirmed, we're willing to bet Momoa will also be taking a central role in 'Justice League: Part One, arriving November 10, 2017 before starring in his own solo film 'Aquaman' which bows the following summer with 'Justice League: Part Two' following on June 14, 2019.
