First Look: AMC Debut World Premiere 'Preacher' Trailer

First Look: AMC Debut World Premiere 'Preacher' Trailer

"Violence Makes Violence..."

By Alex Burns

AMC have revealed the first extended look at the upcoming 'Preacher' television adaptation and it is looking every bit as fierce as the original comic book series. The trailer will debut in the next episode of 'The Walking Dead' on AMC but get an early look here in the player below!

'Preacher' is a cult hit among the comicbook community and for good reason it is all kinds of epic! Originally published by DC Comics under their Vertigo imprint between 1995 and 2000 and written by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon the comic follows the exploits of Jesse Custer, a preacher who has nearly lost all faith but suddenly merges with Genesis, a supernatural being born from an Angel and Demon. The merge gifts Custer the power of the word of God, allowing him to  manipulate anyone to obey his commands. Jesse begins his search to find God for answers and is joined by his ex girlfriend Tulip and a riotous Irish vampire called Cassidy.

Dominic Cooper stars in the lead role of Jesse Custer alongside Joseph Gilgun as the vampire Cassidy, Ruth Negga as his trigger happy ex-girlfriend Tulip, Colletti as the aptly named Arseface, Lucy Griffiths as Emily Woodrow, who is an original character developed for the series and W. Earl Brown as Jesse's father, Sheriff Hugo Root.

The series is set for release mid 2016 and is a collaboration between Sony Pictures Television and AMC Studios. Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen have spoken highly of the comic for some time (the later sharing plenty of production updates on social media) and are producing the series through their Point Grey banner along with Neal Moritz’s Original Film. Writer Sam Catlin penned the pilot and will continue on as showrunner. Make sure you keep it locked at Cape and Cowl for more updates on 'Preacher'.
