Cloud Strife is Coming to Super Smash Bros!

Cloud Strife is Coming to Super Smash Bros!

The World of 'Final Fantasy VII' Brought to Life On Nintendo

By Alex Burns

Nintendo have an awesome treat for both fans of 'Final Fantasy VII' and Super Smash Bros. with the reveal that Cloud Strife will now be a playable character in the game! Pretty much universally loved by JRPG fans and oftne regarded as the coolest character in the entire Final Fantasy series, Cloud Strife is a more than worthy addition to the star-studded 'Super Smash Bros.' line-up. Nintendo confirmed the character will make the jump to Wii U and 3DS in their Direct video presentation.

The iconic hero will boast a HD character model akin to his classic appearance in the original 1997 videogame and will also have an alternate skin that is inspired by his look in the animated movie 'Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children'. Cloud will play like other Smash Bros. swordsman characters and his move set will centre around his epic and uber-powerful Buster sword, there's also nods to the original 'Final Fantasy VII' with a limit break special, animations akin to his movement in that game and of course Chocobos! There's no mention of an amiibo figurine to tie in with the game but we can only hope Nintendo deliver on that as well.

Cloud isn't the only aspect of the 'Final Fantasy' series appearing in the Nintendo franchise however, oh no, fans are being spoiled further with a new level based on the city of Midgar! Nintendo have unveiled a video showing off what we can expect from Cloud and his debut in the beloved Smash Bros, check it out below!

We can't wait to draw our sword against the likes of Link and Mario and live out some childhood fantasies for real! All that's left to ponder now is whether this collaboration between Square Enix and Nintendo is a precursor to bigger things. We're thinking of the upcoming 'Final Fantasy VII' remake making it's way onto Nintendo's impending next gen console, pie in the sky or are you guys and gals thinking the same thing? Whatever transpires, one things for sure, we'll keep you updated right here at Cape and Cowl. While we're here let's take a look at that PS4 reveal trailer for the FF7. We Cannot wait.
