One scene in particular really set fan forums ablaze and that was the shot of a silver helmet that landed in particle accelerator chamber. The helmet belongs to Jay Garrick, the Golden Age version of 'The Flash' who operates in an alternate timeline.
At the “DC Entertainment: From Page to Screen” panel, executive producer Geoff Johns confirmed that this sequence from the finale will provide a plot point for the second season.
“That’s not an Easter egg, that’s a story point,” Johns said. “We’re going to see Jay.”
Jay Garrick's comic history is a bit muddled, to begin with he was the primary Flash in the Golden Age of comics but the character was then reinvented when Barry Allen replaced Jayas the Flash in the comics. With Barry now the Flash, Garrick existed as a comic character, providing the inspiration for Allen to adopt "The Flash" persona as his own. As various Crisis' occurred in the DC universe it was revealed the two heroes populated parallel Earths, Earth-1 and Earth-2, the two eventually met and went on to become allies and friends.
The executive producers of “The Flash” have alluded to the DC multiverse appearing in the second season, so with this announcement form Johns there's even more Earth-2 DC characters to be announced.
