'Green Lantern Corps' Confirmed as Title for New Film

With the Warner Bros. Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con over, we've got plenty to bring you from the show. In an exciting piece of news the 'Green Lantern' reboot will be officially titled 'Green Lantern Corps'. That was it though, no casing announcements but with so many to chose from (Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, John Stewart and Kyle Rayner) plus tons of other alien Lanterns, there's no limit to the scope of the picture.

'Fast and Furious' actor Tyrese Gibson has been heavy linked with a role in the new film and has been making plenty of social media posts about his willingness to be involved in the project. One of the posts featured fan art of himself and Chris Pine as Green Lanterns.

“There are certain things I can’t speak on,” Tyrese told Entertainment Tonight. “But I will say, however this works out, it’s definitely the fans’ fault. I was at home minding my own business and fans start creating these fan-made videos of me as Green Lantern and I looked into it. I’ve been a fan of the Green Lantern. I took the oath, and I had a meeting at Warner Bros. and certain things were said and talked about. We’ll just see what happens.”

A lot of the speculation surrounding 'Green Lantern' was as to exactly which hero the film would focus on, with the title now announced it seems to be an ensemble movie which may be part inspired by the success Marvel has had with 'Guardians of the Galaxy' there will be a lead role for sure but the green Lantern mythos has always been bigger than Hal Jordan alone. As crowded as 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice', is there could be a subtle reference in there to the green lantern Corp but of course we're bound to see at least on lantern in 'Justice League: Part One', set for release November 17, 2017, and 'Justice League: Part Two', set for release June 14, 2019. As for 'Green Lantern Corps' it's currently locked in for a June 19, 2020 release date, we'll have more as it comes so keep it locked here at cape and cowl.
