Zack Snyder and Ben Affleck address 'Batman V Superman' Conflict

Destructive Ending of 'Man of Steel' Will Not Be Forgotten

By Steven Carter

Hey Supes fans! More news has come from the world of comic book movies, 'Batman v Superman' director Zack Snyder has been talking to Entertainment Weekly about how the events from Man of Steel will link in to the new film next year.

One thing that got under the fans’ collective cape was the sheer scale of destruction that was unleashed upon poor, unsuspecting Metropolis. Snyder addresses this issue directly:

“I was surprised because that’s the thesis of Superman for me, that you can’t just have superheroes knock around and have there be no consequences,” Snyder tells EW. “There are other superhero movies where they joke about how basically no one’s getting hurt. That’s not us. What is that message? That’s it’s okay that there’s this massive destruction with zero consequence for anyone?”

Metropolis is in a bad way by the end of MoS
The apocalyptic scenes from MoS also provide reasons why Gotham’s brooding caped crusader decides to throw down against the red and blue boy scout. It seems the Wayne satellite wasn’t the ONLY thing that was destroyed as Ben Affleck explains:

“One of the things I liked was Zack’s idea of showing accountability and the consequences of violence and seeing that there are real people in those buildings,” says Ben Affleck. “And in fact, one of those buildings was Bruce Wayne’s building so he knew people who died in that Black Zero event.”

Looks like we will see some serious repercussions going on what these two have said! What are your thoughts? Are you glad they are going to address the destruction caused in Man of Steel? Will Superman be forced to hold back on his punches now that he realises how dangerous he can be? Will this be the reason why a human being in an armoured suit will be able to hold his own up against an alien with unparalleled strength?

One thing is for sure, the Cape and Cowl team will be keeping a close eye on any further developments that come out from Warner Brothers. Stay tuned!
