C&C Review - DC Collectibles Batman: Arkham Knight: Batman Statue
Rocksteady's Design Comes to Life
By Alex Burns
It's not long until Batman: Arkham Knight hits game stores across the globe so to ramp up even more excitement we've got our hands on the new DC Collectibles Arkham Knight Batman statue and believe us when we say we seriously could not be more impressed. The statue sculpted by Gentle Giant Studios is based on the designs of the Batman: Arkham Knight video game from Warner Bros. Interactive and Rocksteady Studios. For those of you who like their Batman to appear more in tune with modern day aesthetics you'll get a kick out of seeing the Dark Knight's hi-tech armour sculpted in glorious detail. The paint job is incredible and you can see by our pictures that it's flawless. The statue stands at 9.5 inches but it looks a heck of a lot taller on the shelf in our offices and that is certainly a good thing.
We have to be honest and say that initially we found the pose to be a little awkward, especially when mounting the figure to the stand, (which is shaped like a bat-signal!) but within seconds of taking a step back we realised just how epic the statue looked, we caved, the pose it's perfect.
We have to compliment the facial expression as well, the face is always so difficult to get right with these type of statues, but not here, it's as if the in game character has come to life, it's unquestionably Batman. The Batarang is an absolute peach of a sculpt and the utility belt in particular is a stand-out, it looks heavy duty and packed to the brim with crime-fighting gadgets.
If you're a fan of the Rocksteady game series you'll fall in love with the statue and while the more armoured Batman look is something that divides fans you can't deny that as a whole the statue captures the mood of the character perfectly and when you check out the way the Bat-Cape majestically falls and billows behind Batman I really don't think you'll need any more convincing.
This is one of the best Batman statues in recent memory and it won't break the bank, although as it's a Limited Edition you'll have to be quick to snap these up. It's available over at Amazon and Forbidden Planet.
