Jason Momoa Talks Aquaman

Character Motivations, Costume Details and Action Figures

By Alex Burns

Jason Momoa has offered up some details on his new role as Aquaman in DC's new cinematic universe. In an interview with The Roberts Voice Momoa was drawn on the subject of Aquaman and spoke quite candidly about what we can expect. The actor revealed that the Aquaman costume could potentially have a more traditional motif to acknowledge the character's history and how the film will be made relevant to today by channelling into the our global pollution crisis.

“Well, there might be some bit of orange and green, a bit of respect to prior work, but I think he is meaner now and upset – look at what has been done to our oceans. That’s his world that has been polluted.”

The Aquaman reveal by Zack Snyder caused somewhat of a stir when the character appeared borderline unrecognisable as the Aquaman the general public were used to. Momoa appears in tribal style armour with tattoos, a fierce hair-do and a massive trident, it threw fans a little at first but the appreciation for the artistic endeavour and direction has eased public perception a little and now everyone really just wants another photo. There was also good news for collectors as Momoa revealed he has been scanned and is ready to be made into an action figure.

“Yes I have (been scanned), There will be collectibles.”

We'll get our first look at Momoa as Aquaman in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' before he makes his debut proper by joining director Zack Snyder’s The 'Justice League Part One' in 2017. Momoa than takes centre stage in the James Wan-helmed solo film 'Aquaman' on July 27, 2018.
