'The Flash' Movie has a Writer and Director - Stand up Seth Graheme-Smith!

Now Lets Look at the Facts

By Alex Burns

Seth Graheme-Smith will write and direct The Flash movie, the upcoming project by Warner Bros. will adapt the DC Comics hero in his first live-action feature film, the speedster will join the likes of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman to form the DC Universe on film. The news comes from The Hollywood Reporter and this a big step up for Graheme-Smith as 'The Flash' film will be his directorial debut and a major movie to boot.

While that news might cause concern it's worth remembering that Warner Bros have a history for taking chances on untapped talent. Christopher Nolan had made some great low-budget films but when he took on 'Batman Begins' he was largely unproven in the world of the blockbuster movie and look how that turned out, lets just hope Graheme-Smith work with The Flash goes down just as well!

Graheme-Smith's previous work includes screenplays for 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter', 'Dark Shadows', 'Beetlejuice 2', and the on a related note the upcoming 'The LEGO Batman Movie'. Updates on The Flash movie have been few and far between, we know that 'The LEGO Movie' directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have written a treatment for the film, there was some hope that they would take on directing duties as well but that idea got thrown out the window when Disney and Lucasfilm came calling with their 'Star Wars' spin-off movie featuring a young Han Solo.

So we've got our director and writer and we know who our leading man is, Ezra Miller (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) will star as Barry Allen, and with the movie set for release March 3, 2018 it won't be long before we get a tease of what's to come. Not long at all in fact as Miller will make his debut as Barry Allen in next year’s 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' though it may not be in a red costume just yet, expect that in his appearance in 'Justice League Part One' on November 17, 2017.

Fans of the popular Television series 'The Flash' had their hopes dashed for when DC Entertainment confirmed their TV projects and feature films would not be connected. Considering the alternate reality plot thread in being explored in 'The Flash' you can never be too sure there won't be some sort of nod between Grant Gustin’s version of The Flash and Ezra Miller’s movie version somewhere down the line...
