Disney and Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok opened domestically this weekend and delivered the seventh largest opening for a film in the MCU. With an estimated $121 million, Ragnarok topped the $117 million debut for Spider-Man: Homecoming earlier this year and with an opening like this, the film should have no trouble passing the $300 million mark on home territory alone.

Internationally, Ragnarok continued to impress in its second weekend, the film brought in $151.4 million for an overseas gross of $306 million and counting. Overall, this pushes the film's global cume to $427 million off the back of those debuts in Germany, Russia, Mexico, China and Japan.

In Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!

Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth once again reprising his role as the God of Thunder himself, Tom Hiddleston is back as the mischievous Loki while Mark Ruffalo appears as the Doctor Bruce Banner aka the Incredible Hulk in an expanded role. Anthony Hopkins returns as Odin, Cate Blanchett joins the cast as new villain Hela alongside Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster and Karl Urban as Skurge.
