Justice League Goes All In For $280 Million Worldwide Opening

Justice League topped the box office this weekend with a strong global cume of $281.5 million. While the film came in lower than expectations domestically, the latest of Warner Bros. Pictures'  DC Comics adaptation had more joy in overseas territories racking up $181 million.

Industry expectations for Justice League domestically were around the $110 million mark for the opening weekend, but the superhero team-up has under performed against those forecasts, amassing $94 million. This is the first film in the new DC Shared Universe to not crack $100 million upon opening.

For comparison, Wonder Woman brought in $102 million earlier this year, Suicide Squad brought in $133 million along with Batman v Superman making $166 million back in 2016 and Man of Steel also managed $116 million in 2013.

It will be interesting to see if Justice league can play well into the early holiday season as Wonder Woman also started with a smaller opening compared with the other DC Films but had strong enough legs to top $400 million domestically and out gross all other films in the series.

We'll keep you updated but in the mean time, be sure to let us know what you think of the film!

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's (Henry Cavill) selfless act, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) enlists newfound ally Diana Prince to face an even greater threat. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to recruit a team to stand against this newly awakened enemy. Despite the formation of an unprecedented league of heroes -- Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash -- it may be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
