New Details Revealed for 'Final Fantasy VII' Part One

New Details Revealed for 'Final Fantasy VII' Part One

Square Enix are Going All Out on This Remake

By Alex Burns

The highly anticipated remake of 'Final Fantasy VII' is being broken up into several instalments and it looks as though Square Enix have completed part one. Since the announcement of the project fan excitement has been at an all time high and what's surprised a lot of people is the speed with which the game is being developed. 'Final Fantasy XV' has been in development for what seems like an eternity, Square Enix are no strangers to delays and vague release dates, so gamers across the globe wondered if the same would be in store for this next gen remaster of 'FFVII'. Not so it seems as part one may be arriving sooner than you think as an article in Famitsu confirms that the first instalment is done and ready to go!

If you're curious as to why the game is being broken up into different parts the explanation from Square is that in order to provide a truly faithful and definitive remake it would have to be split in parts as the game would simply be too large to condense into one release. An interview with Yoshinori Kitase and Tetsuya Nomura in Dengeki Online goes into a little more detail.

Kitase: “The idea that a remake of Final Fantasy VII would not fit into a single release was there from the very beginning. We still can’t share more information about its multiple parts, but please look forward to future announcements.”

Nomura: “If we dedicated our time to a single release, parts of it would become condensed. We’d have to cut some parts, and additional parts would come in few, so rather than remake the game as a full volume, we decided to do multiple parts.”

Kitase: “As you can see in the trailer, we showed Sector 1 and Sector 8, but in those areas alone, I think you can see a lot of density. When you’re remaking the entirety of the original version in that quality, it’s not possible to fit it all in one release.”

Gematsu also posted some sweet new updates on the remake and it's some pretty exciting stuff.

- They want to delve further into Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie.

- They have an idea about the number of installments that will be released, but they’re not at the stage where they can say anything.

- They’re not talking about online right now.

- The scenario of the first part up until its ending is already complete.

- They’re getting technological assistance from the Kingdom Hearts team with Unreal Engine 4, since they’ve been using it with Kingdom Hearts III.

- Cloud’s hallucination scenes will be more meaningful.

- As for the cast, they’re continuing plans with the voice actors from Advent Children, but there are some that still haven’t been offered yet. Red XIII only made a cameo appearance, so his voice is likely to be changed.

- Separate from Limit Breaks, there is another unique system. They can’t show it yet, but the it will be different depending on the player’s fighting style.

- Nothing has been decided about guarding yet.

We can't wait to explore more of Midgar and all this additional content will really open an already gigantic game world up for further exploration. We'll have more on the remake as it comes so keep it locked right here at Cape and Cowl for everything awesome.

'The Shield' Star Michael Chiklis Joins 'Gotham' Season 2 - Batman Prequel Series Adds to Cast

'The Shield' Star Michael Chiklis Joins 'Gotham' Season 2

Batman Prequel Series Adds to Cast

By Alex Burns

After the announcement of Natalie Alyn Lind taking on the role of Silver St Cloud FOX’s “Gotham” have made another casting addition this week with Michael Chiklis joining the Gotham City Police Department as Captain Nathaniel Barnes. Chiklis will be crossing paths with Jim Gordon and the production team on the show have spoken a little about the role.

“[Barnes] lands on the GCPD like a tornado,” 'Gotham’s' producers tell TV Line, “ripping out the dead wood of Gotham’s police force. He is a law and order zealot; unafraid of making enemies – on either side of the law. For Gordon, Barnes is a hero and a mentor, someone with whom he can share the burden of heroism. Captain Barnes proves himself to be a strong ally to Gordon… but one day he will make an equally powerful enemy.”

Chiklis will certainly be suited to the role of a grizzled police veteran having starred in the hugely successful FX series “The Shield”. We gotta mention his time as Ben Grimm in both of Tim Story’s 'Fantastic Four' movies as well. So it looks as though "it's clobberin' time! for Gotham's criminals! Sorry... we just couldn't resist. We'll keep you guys posted on all 'Gotham' updates as season 2 heads into production.

The Flash Gets a Costume Upgrade for Season 2 - Plus Zoom is Coming!

The Flash Gets a Costume Upgrade for Season 2

Plus Zoom is Coming!

By Alex Burns

CW's The Flash wrapped up it's first season a little over two months ago and with production starting up on season 2 of the hit show we're now starting to see some sneak peeks at what's in store for Barry Allen. The latest reveal is a new image of The Flash in a slightly tweaked costume, the biggest addition here is the white background for Barry's lightning bolt emblem, the suit may also be a sharper shade of red but it's difficult to tell due to the lighting of the photo. Check out the full picture below, just click to enlarge.

We saw an alternate future version of The Flash in the season finale and the costume that he was wearing looks very similar to this, the shoulder pads also look to be larger and the belt may have been removed though it's too dark to see for sure.

As well as Barry's new outfit there's been a couple of new additions to the cast, with Teddy Sears and Shantel VanSanten confirmed as Jay Garrick and Patty Spivot respectively. With work under way on new episodes the cast members have been sharing their activity through Instagram, check out a few of the best behind the scenes pictures below.

A huge reveal from San Diego Comic-Con was that the comic book villain, Zoom, will be the big bad for the new season, with a similar skill set to that of the Harrison Well's/Eobard Thawne's  Reverse-Flash from Season 1 it will be interesting to see how they creative team shake things up for the new episodes. Zoom has been confirmed as faster than The Flash and the Reverse-Flash and with another time travel back story things may get a little confusing so make sure to pay attention! We'll bes ure to help you out just in case! Check out a recap of season 1 in the player below, plus a tease of Zoom at the end as well.

So how do you think things are shaping up for the second season? After the costume change for Oliver Queen in 'Arrow' are you glad there's been an update with The Flash as well? there's lots to ponder for sure but we'll keep you right up to date with it all here at Cape and Cowl.
