DC Super Hero Girls Coming to Cartoon Network in 2018

DC Super Hero Girls Coming to Cartoon Network in 2018

Animated Series in Production

By Alex Burns

DC Super Hero Girls is coming to Cartoon Network in 2018! Production has begun on the new animated series from Warner Bros. Animation based on characters from DC Entertainment.

Expect new character designs and stories for the new Cartoon Network series as Emmy Award–winning producer Lauren Faust is on board to over see the project. DC Super Hero Girls began as as series of YouTube shorts and Home Video Movies as well. The series has been viewed millions of times on the official YouTube channel. The series also spawned a successful line of merchandise including toys, books, and clothes designed to introduce young girls to the world of superheroes!

The world may know them as Wonder Woman, Supergirl and Batgirl, but not-so-typical teenagers Diana, Kara and Barbara, alongside their Super Hero friends have much more to deal with than just protecting the citizens of Metropolis from some of the most sinister school-aged Super-Villains of the DC Universe. After all, being teens is tough enough, what with school, friends, family and the chaos that comes with managing a social life. But add super-powers and a secret identity to the mix, and things can get a lot more complicated.

Sure, gal pals Bumblebee, Zatanna and Green Lantern Jessica Cruz are always there to lend an ear, a shoulder to cry on, and a fist to punch with, and their bros in the Justice League amp up the fun whether they’re at a concert or taking down a crime ring. But what happens when Diana and her favorite study buddy and fencing partner, Tatsu, can’t agree on how to dole out justice as Wonder Woman and Katana? Or when Barbara finds out her Gotham-Con bestie is teen-fiend Harley Quinn? Along with all their friends, foes and frenemies, this squad of super teens navigates the unique growing pains that come when you’re a teenager trying to fight the battles of the world and the battles of growing up at the same time.

New Deadpool Animated Series Announced

New Deadpool Animated Series Announced

Coming 2018

By Steven Carter

A Deadpool cartoon is on it's way! FXX has revealed a full series order for the untitled Deadpool cartoon in collaboration with Marvel Television and FX Productions. In-keeping with the more mature trappings of the foul-mouthed mutant mercenary, the series will be an animated action-comedy TV series for adults, or at least an adult certification. Set to premiere in 2018 the first season will run for ten episodes.

The series has some pretty impressive talent attached as Golden Globe Award winners Donald Glover and Stephen Glover are on board as Showrunners, executive Producers and writers of the series. To help guide their vision the experienced Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory are also executive producers from their roles within Marvel. The production of the new series is part of a ongoing partnership between Marvel Television and FX Productions with ABC Signature Studios for FXX, which has already yielded success with the critically-acclaimed X-Men spin-off, Legion.

“Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the untitled Marvel’s Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta,”
said Nick Grad, co-president of programming at FX. “With the success of Legion, we’re looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original.”

Jeph Loeb added, “How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX – the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth! We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with Legion continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation.”

Deadpool continues his rise amongst the ranks of iconic comicbook characters, since his creation in the 90's. The recent success of 20th Century Fox's Deadpool film starring Ryan Reynolds has raised awareness for the character tenfold and we're looking forward to seeing this new animated project come to life.
