Joss Whedon to Helm a Solo Batgirl Film

The DCEU Expands

Variety are bringing word that Joss Whedon will write, direct and produce a new film based on DC Comics' Batgirl character. The feature film will take place within the DCEU that is continuing this year with Wonder Woman and Justice League. The film will focus on the original Batgirl, Barbara Gordon.

Joss Whedon is no stranger to adapting comicbook characters to the big screen, his work for Marvel including The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron. Whedon is also praised for his comicbook writing and iconic television work including Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the Firefly franchise. This will be his first DC Comics' film project after having been attached to a Wonder Woman solo film over a decade ago.

Whedon is notable for telling rich character-driven stories and is somewhat of a specialist in telling sweeping epic adventures featuring strong female heroes. The Batgirl news comes soon after the reveal that Warner Bros. Pictures are also developing several Batman related projects within the DCEU. There's of course the Batman solo film with Matt Reeves attached to helm but also a solo Nightwing film with Chris McKay directing and the Gotham City Sirens movie which is in active development with Margot Robbie returning as Harley Quinn as well. There's every chance Batgirl could make an appearance in any one of those films ahead of her own solo movie.

HBO have revealed a brand new trailer for Season 7 of Game of Thrones, check it out!


The seventh season of the fantasy drama television series Game of Thrones is set to premiere on HBO in July. Unlike previous seasons that all consisted of ten episodes, the seventh season will consist of only seven episodes. Like the previous season, it will largely consist of original content currently not found in George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series, the show runners have been made aware of the future of Martin's sixth and seventh novels - The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring so fan anticipation is higher than ever. The series is adapted for television by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss.

Game of Thrones features a large ensemble cast, including Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington. The season will introduce a number of new cast members, including Jim Broadbent and Tom Hopper.

Blizzard have launched a new online store for high-end collectibles based on their successful gaming franchises. The new range is titled Blizzard Collectibles and features characters from Overwatch and Warcraft with items starting at $150. The premium items include, statues, replicas and artwork from the games for fans to enjoy.

"We tend to go all-in when it comes to representing the things we're passionate about in our work, and that's exactly what we're doing with this new line of high-end statues, replicas, and artwork," Blizzard consumer products exec Matthew Beecher said in a statement. "Our goal with Blizzard Collectibles is to produce pieces of art that capture the personality of our games, and we're excited to share these premium items with gamers and collectors worldwide."

Telltale Games have revealed new information on their new series based on Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy comics. The adventure game masters have shared all new key art for the videogame, confirming that supervillain Thanos will be appearing in the series and that the first episode will be titled Tangled Up in Blue.

The film stars John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny and Jing Tian, with Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, and Burn Gorman returning in their roles from the original film. Directed by Steven S. DeKnight and written by DeKnight, Emily Carmichael, Kira Snyder, and T.S. Nowlin the film will continue the story by Guillermo del Toro.

The film is scheduled to be released on February 23, 2018, by Universal Pictures in the United States and Warner Bros. Pictures internationally.

Rooted in the classic graphic novel series, Valerian and Laureline- visionary writer/director Luc Besson advances this iconic source material into a contemporary, unique and epic science fiction saga.

Under directive from their Commander (Clive Owen), Valerian and Laureline embark on a mission to the breathtaking intergalactic city of Alpha, an ever-expanding metropolis comprised of thousands of different species from all four corners of the universe. Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have revealed the official second trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming. Check out the goods below!

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man, who made his sensational debut in Marvel Studios' Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging superhero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

Holland is joined by Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man and Michael Keaton as the Vulture.

IMAX and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment have announced a new virtual reality deal that will see three premium, interactive VR experiences based on WB's biggest blockbuster movies. The co-financing and production agreement will develop original VR experiences with Justice League and Aquaman confirmed to be the first films to receive this treatment, a third WB tie-in is unconfirmed at the time of the announcement. WB and IMAX will release one new VR Expereience per year to start with, Justice League VR being the first in 2017, each piece of original content will receive an exclusive window in IMAX VR centres before coming to other VR platforms.

“It’s fitting that with IMAX and Warner Bros.’ shared history of launching Hollywood movies in IMAX theatres, today we’re entering into our first studio deal to bring original VR content to the multiplex,” said IMAX Corp. CEO Richard L. Gelfond. “A key component of our vision for VR is to help usher in the first wave of high-end blockbuster-based content. Justice League and Aquaman feature some of the most beloved characters on the planet, providing iconic properties to launch this effort. This type of premium content will introduce audiences to virtual reality in standalone and multiplex-based IMAX VR centres as well as other platforms.”

“We are excited to be partnering with IMAX to develop and deliver premium VR experiences, and believe that capitalizing on Justice League and Aquaman characters from our well-known DC properties will broaden the appeal of this fast growing technology,” said Ron Sanders, President, Warner Bros. Worldwide Home Entertainment Distribution. “Using content and characters from these upcoming films and incorporating creative direction from some of Hollywood’s most innovative filmmakers will help us to bring a groundbreaking experience to audiences and consumers who are hungry for a cutting-edge virtual reality experience.”

IMAX launched its flagship pilot IMAX VR Centre in Los Angeles in January, which is off to a strong start, and is set to open at least five additional centres in New York City, California, the UK and Shanghai in the coming few months. IMAX plans to use these pilot locations to test several factors including the overall customer experience, pricing models and the types of content featured. If successful, the intent is to roll out the concept globally to select multiplexes as well as commercial locations such as shopping centers and tourist destinations.

The IMAX VR Fund, which was announced at the end of 2016, brings together leaders from the media, entertainment and technology sectors to aid in the creation of high quality VR content that can be leveraged across the burgeoning VR industry. The Fund will help finance the creation of roughly 25 interactive VR content experiences over the next three years – targeting premium, event-style productions with its Hollywood studio and filmmaker partners that complement IMAX’s film slate, as well as gaming publishers and other leading content developers. Investors include IMAX, IMAX China, Acer, Creative Artists Agency (CAA), China Media Capital, The Raine Group, Studio City and WPP.

IMAX VR is a mind-shattering VR experience in a location-based, state-of-the-art Experience Centre. The IMAX VR Experience features a unique combination of premium technology and world-class content that lets users see, feel, move and play in new worlds in a powerfully immersive and realistic way, much like IMAX theatres offer moviegoers a differentiated and best-in-class film experience. With groundbreaking VR headset technology, 360-degree sound and sophisticated room tracking, players will be instantly transported into new virtual worlds that are more realistic than anything imaginable.

The centres, which will be located in multiplexes, malls and other commercial and standalone destinations, employ a new modular design – proprietary to IMAX – that consists of several “pods” to allow multiple players to enjoy interactive, exciting, moveable VR experiences. The pods, which are designed to optimize user mobility and interaction in virtual environments, can be adapted for specific content experiences – whether single- or multi-player.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's (Henry Cavill) selfless act, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) enlists newfound ally Diana Prince to face an even greater threat. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to recruit a team to stand against this newly awakened enemy. Despite the formation of an unprecedented league of heroes -- Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash -- it may be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League is set for release November 2017.

Final Fantasy XV has just received a major update and Square Enix have released a trailer to celebrate! The new update addresses major changes to the game's 13th chapter, with new cutscenes added to expand the story, new gameplay sections featuring Gladiolus and Ignis and Noctis has had a serious power upgrade with new Ring of Lucii abilities shown.


View the content released as part of the March 2017 game update. In addition, get a glimpse of EPISODE GLADIOLUS, releasing 28.03.17 as part of the FFXV Season Pass and available separately.

Vanity Fair have revealed the first look at the Warner Bros. & MGM Tomb Raider reboot. The outlet shared the debut images of Academy Award winner, Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft plus comments from the actress on the project, there's also a detailed plot synopsis below.

“Seven years after the disappearance of her father, 21-year-old Lara has refused to take the reins of his global business empire, instead working as a bike courier in London while taking college classes. Eventually she becomes inspired to investigate her father’s disappearance and travels to his last-known location: a tomb on an island somewhere off the coast of Japan. Suddenly, the stakes couldn’t be higher for Lara, who—against the odds and armed with only her sharp mind, blind faith and inherently stubborn spirit—must learn to push herself beyond her limits as she journeys into the unknown. If she survives this perilous adventure, it could be the making of her, earning her the name Tomb Raider.”

“When I was asked to take on this role I got really excited—Lara Croft is a truly iconic character,“ Vikander stated. “I think people can identify with her for lots of different reasons, but for me I very much see her as a model for many young women. She’s trying to carve out her place in the world and connect her future with her past. She also has a fantastic mix of traits—tough, smart, vulnerable, plus she’s kick ass! She is also uniquely different to other characters I have taken on previously. It’s a lot of fun trying to get into Lara’s head and the challenge of getting to grips with such a physical role is an element of this project that I find an absolute thrill.”

The look of Lara Croft is very reminiscent of the 2013 Square Enix & Eidos Montreal videogame reboot. Based on the synopsis the film, the reboot also shares several elements from the story of that game as well notably, Lara having to survive against the odds whilst stranded on an inhospitable island, check out the original trailer for that game below.


Directed by Roar Uthaug, the film also stars Dominic West as Lara's father, Daniel Wu as a ship captain and ally to Lara and Walton Goggins as the film's main villain.

The new Tomb Raider movie is set for release in cinemas March 16, 2018

Brand new character posters for the upcoming STARZ original series, American Gods have been revealed! Are you excited for this Neil Gaiman novel adaptation?

When Shadow Moon is released from prison, he meets the mysterious Mr. Wednesday and a storm begins to brew. Little does Shadow know, this storm will change the course of his entire life. Left adrift by the recent, tragic death of his wife, and suddenly hired as Mr. Wednesday’s bodyguard, Shadow finds himself in the center of a world that he struggles to understand. It’s a world where magic is real, where the Old Gods fear both irrelevance and the growing power of the New Gods, like Technology and Media. Mr. Wednesday seeks to build a coalition of Old Gods to defend their existence in this new America, and reclaim some of the influence that they’ve lost. As Shadow travels across the country with Mr. Wednesday, he struggles to accept this new reality, and his place in it.
