Wonder Woman Confirmed for PG-13 Rating
Teen-friendly Action and Violence!
By Alex Burns
Warner Bros. Pictures have announced today that Wonder Woman has received a PG-13 rating. The reasons for the rating are as follows:
Wonder Woman - PG-13 - for sequences of violence and action, and some suggestive content.
I'm sure this will come as no surprise to most as the PG-13 certification is par the course for the modern superhero film. Wonder Woman matches the other connected films already released in the DCEU - Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad all released as PG-13 in cinemas. It's worth noting that BvS did have an R rated Ultimate Edition release on home video though. After the success of Logan and Deadpool at the worldwide box office more R-rated superhero films may be waiting in the wings but for the moment it seems Wonder Woman won't be reinventing the wheel in terms of it's certificate.
Wonder Woman has plenty of pressure on it's release after poor critical reception to BvS and Suicide Squad last year but we are pretty optimistic about the film after some seriously sweet trailer reveals. Check out the latest trailer below and be sure to tune in to our podcast where we discuss our hopes for Wonder Woman and the future of DC Comics on the big screen.
Gal Gadot takes on the lead role of Diana Prince as we explore the origins of Wonder Woman who appeared in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Gadot will also take a leading role alongside Batman, The Flash and other DC heroes in Zack Snyder's Justice League set for release November 17th 2017.
Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman is set for release June 2nd 2017.
