Disney may have downplayed their expectations for the opening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens due to the December release window but it's clear to see they know they were sitting on a goldmine. Those in the know have confirmed J.J. Abrams' triumphant Star Wars sequel has amassed roughly $130 million in 48 hours across the globe. Generating $72.7 Million from 44 international markets and around $57 million in North America. That's huge guys and gals... HUGE!

"The seventh Star Wars movie smashed records for the biggest single day of all time in the U.K./Ireland with $14.4 million, Germany with $6.8 million, Sweden with $2.7 million and Norway with $1.1 million, reports Variety. "In addition to that quartet, “The Force Awakens” set opening day records in Australia, Brazil, New Zealand, Belgium, Finland, Netherlands, Switzerland (French-speaking), Austria, Ukraine, Slovakia, Croatia, Iceland, Serbia, Chile and Peru."

Prepare for a never ending list of impressive and obscure records to be broken time will tell whether the film can now devour the 'Jurassic World' international opening weekend record of $316.1 million. I believe the force is strong with this one... why not check out our review as proof!
