Konami Developing 'New Metal Gear' Game Without Kojima

Konami Developing 'New Metal Gear' Game Without Kojima

Will the Franchise be the Same?

By Alex Burns

Konami are seeking new developers to continue the Metal Gear franchise, the company listing specifies a search for a "wide range of highly-skilled development professionals" for a new Metal Gear title. This new instalment in the world renowned game franchise will be the first after the departure of creator Hideo Kojima and there will be a mixed response from fans as to where the future of the series lies without Kojima calling the shots.

Konami have gone this route before without Kojima as a partnership with platinum games yielded the frenetic action game 'Metal Gear Rising: Revangeance' a title that decidedly divides Metal Gear fans. Konami have expressed confidence in continuing the franchise without the having the creator involved it remains to be seen whether it will reach the same heights as the last entry in the series; 'The Phantom Pain'

Kojima and Konami fell out over creative differences and frustrations with deadlines in the lead-up to the release of 'Metal Gear Solid V'. The issues proved to be impossible to overcome for both parties as the two long term partners parted company.

All of this news comes in the wake of Hideo Kojima announcing he will be going solo with his own studio to develop a Playstation exclusive title, call us biased but we may be a little more excited for that one...
