Kevin Feige Talks Up The New Spider-Man and Marvel/Sony Deal - How Will Our Favourite Webhead Fit in with the MCU?

Kevin Feige Talks Up The New Spider-Man and Marvel/Sony Deal

How Will Our Favourite Webhead Fit in with the MCU?

By Alex Burns

With the news that Tom Holland will be playing the new Spider-Man a lot of attention has now turned to how the character will fit in with the rest of Marvel cinematic universe. The new Sony Marvel deal has allowed the opportunity for Spider-Man to join the likes of Iron Man and Captain America on-screen. In a recent interview with SuperheroHype.com Executive producer and MCU mastermind Kevin Feige has spoken out about the recent developments and what cinema goers can expect from the upcoming movie. Feige talked about how the new partnership with Sony is going so far.

“We’re producing that movie for Sony and in partnership with Amy Pascal, so it’s been going through the same process of any other Marvel film would, and it’s been great. Tom Rothman at Sony has been very supportive in the decisions and obviously the two big ones we announced this week.”

After the tepid response to 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' there was a bunch of speculation as to the future of Spidey on screen, the Marvel Sony deal was unexpected but at least it seems to be running smoothly and surely that can only be a good thing. Feige was also asked if his previous work with Tom Hotman on 20th Century Fox's first 'X-Men' movie helped pave that way for the deal to go ahead as Hothman now operates at Sony.

“It was a very different capacity. Marvel Studios as its own studio didn’t exist and I was not a full producer on any of those movies. It was a different relationship, but he was always very supportive of me personally.”

A lot of talk has surrounded how other Spider-Man characters may fit into other MCU films but Feige was very straight in his response to that question.

“Right now, it’s all about producing the new stand-alone Spider-Man movie,”

Sounds about right, get Spider-Man back to his best then worry about the rest. Also if you were wondering what Fiege thinks about the previous movies...

I think Spider-Man 2 is one of the best superhero movies ever, so that’s a lot to live up to.”

Very true Mr Feige, Very true. We're certainly looking forward to seeing how the new marvel movies shape up, especially with Peter Parker now becoming a part of that world. For the rest of the interview check out SuperheroHype.com.

Official: Marvel Have Their New Spider-Man

Official: Marvel Have Their New Spider-Man

Newcomer Tom Holland Cast in Iconic Role

By Steven Carter

Hey Spidey fans! The news has dropped today that Marvel and Sony have found their Spider-Man! Not only that but they have also announced who is directing! A quick visit to Marvel.com reveals this announcement:

“Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are proud to announce that after a full worldwide casting search, Tom Holland will play Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the next Spider-Man film, in theaters in IMAX and 3D on July 28, 2017. The film will be directed by Jon Watts, director of "Cop Car," the upcoming thriller that made its debut earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival.”

“Marvel and Sony Pictures, and producers Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal conducted an extensive search for both the actor and the director. The studios and producers were impressed by Holland’s performances in "The Impossible," “Wolf Hall,” and the upcoming "In the Heart of the Sea," and by a series of complex screen tests. Following Marvel’s tradition of working with the brightest next wave of directors, Watts also went through multiple meetings with Feige, Pascal, and the studio, before winning the job.”

So what do you think? I am personally optimistic on this selection, it’s going to be refreshing having an actual teenager play a teenager character. Up until now, Peter Parker has been played by youthful looking actors who were actually in their 30’s. Now Marvel have a chance to finally show the world how a teenage hero is supposed to look and act!

The confirmation of Watts being at the helm is also a good call. Upon seeing the trailer for “Cop Car” the man sure knows how to capture the audiences attention!

We’ve all heard the rumours that Spidey is getting name dropped in the upcoming Ant Man film, I’m guessing it will stay that way being as the film is set for release next month! I’m still interested as to how exactly he will be used in the Civil War. It would be nice if SOME of Marvel’s MCU hero’s get to keep their secret identities! All I can say is roll on 2017!

The Flash Cast Members Discuss Plans for Season 2 - Could Killer Frost and Vibe Be Set to Appear?

The Flash Cast Members Discuss Plans for Season 2

Could Killer Frost and Vibe Be Set to Appear?

By Alex Burns

(Warning! This article contains spoilers for the final episode of 'The Flash')

'The Flash recently finished it's debut season on a high in the fantastic season finale 'Fast Enough' which finally wrapped up the Reverse Flash saga and opened up a whole new can of worms as Barry Allen took on wormhole and dived into the unknown. Ever since, fans have been clamouring for details on what we can expect in season 2, well in a recent press event for the CW, DC All Access talked to the shows principal cast about what the future holds for  The Flash, check out the full video below.

There were plenty of easter eggs during Barry's race through time in the season finale, our hero sped past visions of alternate time lines and potential futures. One vision in particular got tongues wagging as it showed Caitlin Snow becoming the super powered Killer Frost. In the comics Killer Frost isn't exactly the nicest of characters, which is a change from the super sweet Caitlin, so it'll be interesting to see if the show keeps her a villain like in the comics or has her team up with Barry. Her relationship with Firestorm however, might end up running a little hot and cold...

The Killer Frost vision from the time stream
We may also get an exploration of the Vibe character through Cisco's new found abilities to see through time streams into alternate time lines. Vibe is a pretty obscure DC hero so we're sure the producers will be given free reign to change up the character as they please, maybe starting with the name... what do you think, isn't Cisco pretty much on point already?

Vibe was reintroduced in 2013, his powers given a significant upgrade
We'll keep you up to date with everything Flash related so keep it locked here at Cape and Cowl for everything superhero.

The Joker is Back in New E3 'Batman: Arkham Knight' Trailer

New Footage shows Reasons for Mature Rating

By Alex Burns

(Warning! this article contains spoilers for the ending of  Batman Arkham City) The E3 2015 is under way in Los Angeles and there's been plenty of awesome gaming news. Now with 'Batman Arkham Knight' set for release next week, Rocksteady Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment had one last surprise for fans at the event. During the Sony Press conference a new trailer was revealed showing a glimpse of the opening sequence. 'Arkham Knight' received a mature rating and judging by the horrific imagery on show in this footage it's not hard to see why. There's also a look at how the Joker is getting on after the events of Arkham City left him, well you know... dead! Many fans hoping that the Clown Prince of Crime would return somehow, may now have to give up on that dream based on the evidence of this clip but hey, who knows? People rarely stay dead in the world of comic books! Check out the footage below and keep it locked here at Cape and Cowl as we prepare for the' Arkham Knight' launch next week. Expect a lot of content!

New 'Ant-Man' Avengers Posters - Marvel Link New Hero with Big Stars

New 'Ant-Man' Avengers Posters

Marvel Link New Hero with Big Stars

By Alex Burns

Marvel Studios have officially revealed three new posters for their upcoming superhero flick 'Ant-Man'. It seems Marvel are keen to remind/inform cinema goers that Paul Rudd's Ant-Man is not just any old shrinking superhero, he's one that hangs out with Avengers! Well eventually anyway. Take a look at the posters below and let us know what you think.

Some have criticised the posters for misleading audiences into thinking characters like Iron Man and Thor will actually appear in the movie but we're not quite convinced of that here at Cape and Cowl. Who can blame Marvel for wanting to spread awareness that Ant-Man is coming and it just so happens he's part of the same awesome world that Captain America lives in, we're also getting a Disney vibe from the posters, it's very reminiscent of how they marketed 'Lilo and Stitch' and pretty much every new Pixar movie plays on links to previously successful films by the studio "From the Creators of Finding Nemo and Toy Story" ringing any bells?

Bet you didn't think you'd see this picture in this article!
It's always difficult launching a new Superhero so let's trust Marvel know what they're doing, they've a pretty good track record so far. 'Ant-Man' also stars, Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lily and is set for release July 17th.

Get Ready For 'Justice League: Gods and Monsters' - Official Trailer, Complete Episodes and Comic Book Details

Get Ready For 'Justice League: Gods and Monsters'

Official Trailer, Complete Episodes and Comic Book Details

By Alex Burns

If you haven't heard about 'Justice League: Gods and Monsters' then we've got you covered. "Gods and Monsters" is huge trans media project covering a web series, comic book and now a direct-to-video animated movie. The series marks the first collaboration between Warner Bros. and Machinima after WB poured $18 million in investment into Machinima back in 2014. 'Gods and Monsters' takes a new stance on adapting well-known characters like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman and messing with our expectations, check out the full synopsis below.

"In an alternate universe, the Justice League is a brutal force that maintains order on Earth. Superman is the son of General Zod, who was rocketed to Earth as a child and raised by a family of Mexican immigrants. Batman is Kirk Langstrom, a scientist who has inadvertently transformed himself into a vampire in an attempt to cure his cancer, feeding on criminals to satisfy his hunger. Wonder Woman is Bekka, who was the bride of the New God Orion. The Justice League's unaccountability is ultimately challenged by the world's governments following the suspicious deaths of renowned scientists"

Uber talented creator Bruce Timm is heavily involved with the project which is bound to excite fans of the DC animated universe and he's also took up direction for a limited series of three episodes featuring characters from the animated movie as a tie-in, these are pretty brutal and dark, check the full episodes out below.

We love the new take on DC's big three and this new format is one that could see a lot more obscure characters make their way into animation. The first series has been a success and Machinima and Warner Bros. have confirmed it will be renewed for a second season, set to launch in 2016 and be increased to ten episodes.

There's also a four-issue prequel comic book series written by J. M. DeMatteis and Bruce Timm that will be released concurrently with the film. The 4 part series will feature on individual heroes before culminating with the deformation of the Justice League in the final issue.

'Gods and monsters' Cover Issue #1
We're looking forward to seeing what else Machinima has planned for other DC Heroes and make sure you check out "Justice League: Gods and Monsters" when the film bows July 28th 2015, if you haven't seen it already watch the official trailer below.

Hugh Jackman has been doing a few media appearances recently and talked openly about calling time on his career as the Wolverine, a role he has been playing for 17 years, that's right... 17 YEARS!
