Olivia Munn talks 'X-Men Apocalypse' Role and Costume
Actress Plays Dangerous Mutant, Psylocke
By Alex Burns
EW recently did a cover story on the upcoming superhero epic 'X-Men: Apocalypse' and ran some new photos from the film and a couple of interviews with the cast. Olivia Munn will play the role of Psylocke, a fan-favourite mutant from the 90's who will be making her first appearance in the X-Men movie franchise as a servant of Apocalypse himself. Check out a few of Munn's comments on the movie and her revealing superhero costume.
When asked about the excitement surrounding her role in the movie, “My sister just graduated magna cum laude from law school. My little brother just became a master physicist, he’s going to go get his PhD. That’s where they’re at. And yet we talk about X-Men as if we’re talking about the Civil War.” Turns out that Apocalypse actually decides the outfits for all his minions and Munn addresses the costumes appeal,“Psylocke’s outfit or uniform or suit or whatever you want to call it is very sexual,” admits Munn. “I’ve got like my thigh-highs and a halter, but the thing about that, and that was important, is that it doesn’t matter what I’m wearing as long as we’re all aware of who she is. She’s very strong and she’s very lethal and she’s very powerful, and it doesn’t really matter what she’s wearing as long as you have that strength and that presence.” The skin tight suit did cause a few issues on-set though... “Now it fits like a glove, but it’s kind of hard because there’s been times where I’m pulling and it pops like a balloon, which did happen day one,” admits Munn. “Day one, I was like, ‘Uh, guys, uh, do we have a backup? Sorry I popped my crotch.” For a number of reasons we cannot wait to see Munn suit up as Psylocke in 'X-Men: Apocalypse' the film is set for release 2016 and will is directed by Bryan Singer who is responsible for the best entries into the franchise already so we're expecting great things!
'X-Men: Apocalypse' EW Cover Revealed Plus On-Set photos
Feast your Eyes on Earth's First Mutant
By Steven Carter
Hey X-Men fans! Entertainment Weekly has revealed new photos from the set of X-Men: Apocalypse! We finally get a decent pic of Apocalypse himself and also Psylocke. Other photos also reveal Storm’s look which appears to have taken cues from her more recent years in the comics! Loving that snow white mohawk! Magneto looks awesome in his new getup, as does Psylocke. Looks like she has been snatched straight out from the comic pages!
For those of you who were 90’s kids, Apocalypse’s appearance may conjure up some memories of another purple themed villain, Ivan Ooze, from a certain Power Rangers movie! (At least it does for me…)
We also see 'Days of Future Past' favourite Quicksilver and Mystique in body armour which looks similar to the style used in the previous film! Looks like Mystique is playing hero for now as well as she is seen in a shot alongside Professor X and co, in Cerebro. Bryan Singer’s massive ensemble cast includes the likes of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult reprising their respective rolls. We also will be seeing Rose Byrne returning as CIA agent Moira MacTaggert, Evan Peters as Quicksilver and Lucas Hill as Havock.
The film introduces new stars too. We get Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Ben Hardy as Angel, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Olivia Munn as Psylocke and Lana Condor as Jubilee. Oscar Isaac plays the big bad, Ivan… I mean Apocalypse who has been confirmed to be taking multiple forms just like the comics.
What do you guys think? Looking forward to this one? I for one have had my faith restored in this franchise since seeing first class, and with 'Deadpool' on the way, things are really looking up for the Fox owned franchise! Make sure you check out our full Comic-Con coverage of X-men Apocalypse here plus a trailer description as well.
