Black & White Logan Screening May 16th
James Mangold Teases Alternate Version
By Alex Burns
When Logan promotions began at the tail-end of 2016, fans couldn't get enough of director James Mangold's black and white stills for the movie. After the film released in cinemas earlier in March, rumors began to spread that 20th Century Fox may be willing to release a black and white version of the movie for die hard fans based on the popularity of the trailer and these ssaid photos. The bleak and old school western style of the film lends itself to the format for sure, check out Mangold's tweet below.
Suggestion. Hard core B&W loving LOGAN fans should not make any plans on the evening of May 16th.— Mangold (@mang0ld) April 28, 2017
Some users replied asking if they could switch their TV colour schemes instead, to which Mangold replied, “Won’t be on a TV. And the answer is no. To make a great B&W version of a film, the whole thing’s gotta be regraded & timed shot by shot.” Looks like hs is taking this version seriously and rightly so. In a bummer for fas outside around the world, the director also confirmed the screenings will only take place in the U.S.
Expect a black and white version to be included with the home video release of Logan, in the mean time, check out the Sunseeker clip for a glimpse of how the film might look!
Hugh Jackman's final outing as everyone's favourite X-Man delivered in ways that surprised audiences the world over, it's final gross of $605,205,683 worldwide is an incredible success and when compared to other X-Men films you can make the case that it's the most profitable and critically acclaimed entry in the entire series, all without really having to connect to other instalments. Logan stands proudly in the pantheon of not just great superhero films but also those all-time awesome movies as well. Logan serves as a reminder to any would be superhero films - story and characters always trump spectacle and big budgets.
