New Assassin's Creed Title Coming by March 2018

A New Era Begins

By Ashley Samuel

The next Assassin's Creed game has been the subject of crazy rumours and unconfirmed leaks for what seems like forever, but now we have official confirmation that Ubisoft will be releasing the next instalment sometime during the current fiscal year, which runs through March 31, 2018. Check out their official announcement in the tweet below.

The series has received some criticism for not delivering on expectations and relying on formulaic gameplay that hasn't evolved enough with each new instalment. The hot tip has been that the next entry of the series would be somewhat of a reboot for the action adventure franchise, this reveal certainly backs up that claim.

The word came from an official Ubisoft's earnings report.

"Since the release of Assassin's Creed Unity, we've learned a lot based on your feedback," said the company's CEO, Yves Guillemot. "We've also updated our development processes and recommitted to making Assassin's Creed a premier open-world franchise.

"We're taking [2016] to evolve the game mechanics and to make sure we're delivering on the promise of Assassin's Creed offering unique and memorable gameplay experiences that make history everyone's playground."

We'll keep you updated, look out for an official reveal at E3 2017 in June.
