Ben Affleck Solo Batman Film "A Year and a Half Out"
The Dark Knight will Return... eventually
By Alex Burns
Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes was speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia this week and has offered up a possible schedule for the released of Ben Affleck's solo Batman film. Bewkes was quoted as saying the following:
“Ben announced a Batman movie [that] he’s going to direct, star, write for – I think it’s a year and a half out.”
So the solo Batman film is locked for March 2018? Well not quite, so before you go booking any time off work let's be clear that we still don't know whether this is the release date of the film proper or simply a production start date. Based on the timetable Bewkes provided that release window would also put the Batman film at loggerheads with the upcoming Flash solo film, which is currently set for release on March 16, 2018. Anyone taking bets on a Batman v Flash film? Just kidding...
It's long been speculated that Warner Bros. would pencil the Ben Affleck directed Batman film into one of the two "untitled" DC movie slots. These were announced prior to Batman v Superman and read as October 5, 2018 and November 1, 2019 on the studio release schedule. Those dates seem far more feasible as the nature of a big blockbuster production, especially a Batman film, normally requires 2 years at minimum.
You never know though, the project could be a heck of a lot further along than we know. Joe Manganiello has recently been confirmed to play the villain, Deathstroke, in the film and there was even some pretty sweet looking footage to go with that announcement. Despite Ben Affleck saying he would not want to go into production without a finished script who knows if some solo Batman footage has already been shot with sets and actors being available during the Justice League production?

The mystery continues, for now you can look forward to checking out more Batman action on November 17th, 2017 when the dark knight will appear alongside Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg in Zack Snyder's Justice League.
