New Screenwriters Join DC's Green Lantern Corps

New Screenwriters Join DC's Green Lantern Corps

On Course for 2020 Release

By Alex Burns

Deadline are reporting that the in-development Green Lantern Corps film from Warner Bros. has just assigned a new screenwriting team. David Goyer and Justin Rhodes are said to be coming up with a new treatment for the space bound comicbook adventure.

David Goyer is known for his work within the superhero genre, he previously worked on scripts for Blade and Batman Begins, but more recently he has had less success with writing duties on Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - both films divided critics and fans and under performed at the box office.

Rhodes, whose most recent script work includes the upcoming Fantastic Voyage remake, will help develop the story that sees heroes Hal Jordan and John Stewart team-up in a Lethal Weapon style film in set in space. Both Rhodes and Goyer will have help from DC Entertainment's Creative Chief, Geoff Johns - who has been penning modern iconic stories for DC Comics for the last decade and has achieved notable success with the Green Lantern characters.

Green Lantern Corps would continue the DC Cinematic Universe after this years' Justice League film and a slew of spin-off films including solo adventures for The Flash and Aquaman amongst others. It is currently targeting a release in 2020.
