Doug Liman Talks Dark Universe

Doug Liman Talks Dark Universe

Turning DC Comics Upside Down

By Alex Burns

Doug Liman is taking the helm of Dark Universe, an adaptation of the Justice League Dark comic from DC and we cannot wait to see how he tackles the property. Luckily The Bourne Identity Director recently spoke to IGN and offered a tease of wat to expect from his film,

“I love those characters, and I love Warner Bros., and I love [producer] Scott Rudin, and it’s — and you know, I get asked to come in and do things that are “unconventional.” If people want conventional, they don’t come to me. It’s why doing Invisible was like right up my alley — because how can you be conventional when there aren’t even conventions that exist? And so you know when Warner Bros. wants to sort of turn the comic book genre on its head, they call me.”

While plot details are being kept under lock and key at Warner Bros, we know the story will revolve around a dark Justice League team that consists of John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna and Etrigan the Demon

Liman has been floating around the superhero genre fro some time having previously been attached to Channing Tatum's long-in-development Gambit movie. It appears Liman is happy much more happy with the script on Dark Universe and we're excited to see how this more fantastical group of characters translates to the big screen.
