More Updates from the Marvel/Sony Collaboration

News for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man movie has been at a premium since the official announcement for the movie was made. Since than we've had Kevin Feige's  confirmation that Tom Holland’s Peter Parker will be a high school student, will already be starting out as Spider-Man and as he's still in the early days of crimefighting will be wearing a non-traditional homemade costume. We also got a tease of Spider-Man at the end of 'Ant-Man' when Falcon gets info on a "guy who crawls up walls" but now we've got a new development thanks to Director, Jon Watts.

In an interview with Empire Magazine Watts has talked a little bit about what we can expect from this new version of Peter Parker, plus reconfirming we won't be seeing another origin movie.

“There are only so many times you can kill Uncle Ben. I love the idea of making a coming-of-age high-school movie. We’re really going to see Peter Parker in high school and get deeper into that side of it. He’s just 15 now.”

At 15 this will be the youngest version of the character we've seen on film, while that may seem a little young to the regular cinema goer it's worth remembering that it's the same age Peter Parker was when he was bitten by the radioactive spider in the comicbooks. Marvel are definitely committed to the long haul and always plan ahead so expect to see Tom Holland grow up Harry Potter style in each new MCU movie with storylines to reflect that. Jon Watts also commented on how Tom Holland is shaping up to take on the role.

“Tom was pretty perfect. He’s very athletic. He can actually do a backflip! If he didn’t already capture the spirit of the character, with that on top the kid is Spider-Man.”

Our first look at the new Spider-Man will be next year in 'Captain America: Civil War' before his first solo movie hits theatres in July 2017.
