New Deadpool Animated Series Announced

New Deadpool Animated Series Announced

Coming 2018

By Steven Carter

A Deadpool cartoon is on it's way! FXX has revealed a full series order for the untitled Deadpool cartoon in collaboration with Marvel Television and FX Productions. In-keeping with the more mature trappings of the foul-mouthed mutant mercenary, the series will be an animated action-comedy TV series for adults, or at least an adult certification. Set to premiere in 2018 the first season will run for ten episodes.

The series has some pretty impressive talent attached as Golden Globe Award winners Donald Glover and Stephen Glover are on board as Showrunners, executive Producers and writers of the series. To help guide their vision the experienced Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory are also executive producers from their roles within Marvel. The production of the new series is part of a ongoing partnership between Marvel Television and FX Productions with ABC Signature Studios for FXX, which has already yielded success with the critically-acclaimed X-Men spin-off, Legion.

“Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the untitled Marvel’s Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta,”
said Nick Grad, co-president of programming at FX. “With the success of Legion, we’re looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original.”

Jeph Loeb added, “How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX – the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth! We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with Legion continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation.”

Deadpool continues his rise amongst the ranks of iconic comicbook characters, since his creation in the 90's. The recent success of 20th Century Fox's Deadpool film starring Ryan Reynolds has raised awareness for the character tenfold and we're looking forward to seeing this new animated project come to life.
