First Look! Amber Heard as Mera in Aquaman Photos

Warner Bros. Pictures have revealed another look at actress, Amber Heard as Mera in director, James Wan's Aquaman film. Whilst we've seen Heard in costume before from the Justice League production this is the first look at the character since filming began a few weeks ago on Aqauman.

Created by Jack Miller and Nick Cardy, Mera first appeared in Aquaman #11 (September 1963). Mera is the wife of Aquaman and known as Queen of the Sea. Mera has the unique ability to form "hard water" objects, as well as super strength and powers related to her adaptation to live under water. She has been shown to be powerful enough to control, albeit briefly, huge amounts of water, enough to pull an entire army out to sea. It's highly likely that Mera will have some influence on Aquaman's joining the Justice League.

“Aquaman,” helmed by James Wan (“The Conjuring” films, “Furious 7”). Jason Momoa stars in the title role, returning to the character he plays in this fall’s “Justice League.”

The film also stars Amber Heard (“Justice League,” “Magic Mike XXL”) as Mera; Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe (“Platoon,” “Spider-Man 2”) as Vulko; Temuera Morrison (“Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones,” “Green Lantern”) as Tom Curry; Dolph Lundgren (“The Expendables” films) as Nereus; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (upcoming “Baywatch,” Netflix’s “The Get Down”) as Black Manta; with Patrick Wilson (“The Conjuring” films, “Watchmen”) as Orm/Ocean Master; and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman (“The Hours,” “Lion”) as Atlanna

You can catch Aquaman make his first proper movie appearance in Zack Snyder's Justice League film after his cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The solo film will likely flesh out the the underwater hero and his origins, with a struggle between Atlanteans and Humans expected to put his powers to the test. 

Justice League is set for release on November 17th 2017.

Aquaman is set for release December 21st, 2018.
