Purryburry Productions have unveiled three official teaser posters for their upcoming documentary, 'George Miller’s Justice League Mortal'. The documentary takes an in-depth look at the failed attempt to get DC Comics' Justice League on the big screen. There was a ton of buzz about the flick back in 2007 and a day didn't go by without a new rumour surfacing. the film received a mixed reception with it's casting choices which had a lot of unknown actors in the line-up, DJ Cotrona was to play Superman, the just starting out Armie Hammer was cast as Batman, Megan Gale (Wonder Woman), rapper turned actor Common was lined up to play the Jon Stewart Green Lantern. TV star Adam Brody got the role of The Flash, Santiago Cabrera and Hugh Keays-Byrne were cast as Aquamn and Martian Manhunter respectively. The villains of the movie were to be Teresa Palmer as the daughter of the Demon's Head, Talia Al Ghul and Jay Baruchel as Maxwell Lord. You can check out the posters below, plus the official press release.

PURRYBURRY PRODUCTIONS RELEASES TRIO OF PROMOTIONAL ARTWORKS FROM ARTIST BOSS LOGIC FOR THEIR PLANNED FEATURE LENGTH DOCUMENTARY CHRONICLING WARNER BROS FIRST, UNSUCCESFUL ATTEMPT TO MAKE A LIVE ACTION JUSTICE LEAGUE FILM
In February 2007, Warner Brothers announced that a live action JUSTICE LEAGUE film was officially in the works – with legendary Australian Filmmaker George Miller in line to direct. Over the next Two years a series of extraordinary events led to the permanent shelving of the project just a few weeks prior to cameras rolling on the project.
Comic Fans and cinephiles alike have wondered for years what George Miller’s JUSTICE LEAGUE MORTAL would have looked like – no artwork, conceptual or otherwise has ever surfaced for the film and details on the abandoned project have always been hard to come by. Writer/Director Ryan Unicomb is collaborating with Producers Steven Caldwell, Aaron Cater & Maria Lewis to develop a feature length documentary with hopes of shining a light on the film that never was. While still in negotiations with Warner Bros. & Kennedy/Miller/Mitchell the planned production’s synopsis is as follows:
“GEORGE MILLER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE MORTAL is an exploration of the abandoned 2009 big screen adaptation of the DC Universe from legendary Australian Filmmaker George Miller. Examining the expansive source material of which the film was to be based off of while giving thought to the profound affect it’s release would have had on todays film & pop culture landscape.”
No release date has been specified.
The project is a co-production between Purryburry Productions & Caldwell Entertainment.
So what do you think? Will you be checking this out? I remember when the project got cancelled there was almost a collective sigh of relief across the entire online community, the movie just didn't seem the right way to get the Justice League on screen. Truth be told it will be interesting to see how the film was shaping up, the eclectic cast have gone on record as saying the movie would have been awesome, during promotion for the Lone Ranger back in 2013 Armie Hammer still had a big smile when discussing the film and was enthusiastic when he described the Batsuit.

The film got pretty far along and we're sure to see the WETA costume designs fully, the posters look to be concept art for the movie. We'll have more on the documentary as it approaches release so keep it locked right here at Cape and Cowl.
