If you haven't heard about 'Justice League: Gods and Monsters' then we've got you covered. "Gods and Monsters" is huge trans media project covering a web series, comic book and now a direct-to-video animated movie. The series marks the first collaboration between Warner Bros. and Machinima after WB poured $18 million in investment into Machinima back in 2014. 'Gods and Monsters' takes a new stance on adapting well-known characters like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman and messing with our expectations, check out the full synopsis below.

"In an alternate universe, the Justice League is a brutal force that maintains order on Earth. Superman is the son of General Zod, who was rocketed to Earth as a child and raised by a family of Mexican immigrants. Batman is Kirk Langstrom, a scientist who has inadvertently transformed himself into a vampire in an attempt to cure his cancer, feeding on criminals to satisfy his hunger. Wonder Woman is Bekka, who was the bride of the New God Orion. The Justice League's unaccountability is ultimately challenged by the world's governments following the suspicious deaths of renowned scientists"

Uber talented creator Bruce Timm is heavily involved with the project which is bound to excite fans of the DC animated universe and he's also took up direction for a limited series of three episodes featuring characters from the animated movie as a tie-in, these are pretty brutal and dark, check the full episodes out below.

We love the new take on DC's big three and this new format is one that could see a lot more obscure characters make their way into animation. The first series has been a success and Machinima and Warner Bros. have confirmed it will be renewed for a second season, set to launch in 2016 and be increased to ten episodes.

There's also a four-issue prequel comic book series written by J. M. DeMatteis and Bruce Timm that will be released concurrently with the film. The 4 part series will feature on individual heroes before culminating with the deformation of the Justice League in the final issue.
